Al Wathba (SR 104, 8/15) may sit below Sommood on the SR scale, but in a juvenile novice this early in development, market confidence is the dominant signal — and 8/15 with a further 12% market shortening from the Appleby/Buick combination is about as strong a stable signal as this level produces. Charlie Appleby runs at 31% strike rate from 214 runners, Buick books at 20% career strike rate, and the yard's juvenile novice operation on AW is consistently potent. The Form:22 line shows Al Wathba has already raced twice (unlike four of the eight runners who are debut maidens), providing racecourse experience and the 17-day turnaround suggests the yard is happy with the horse's progress.
