Mr Fox’s call
Mon Missel
SPECULATIVE Advised 7/4 Est. 38%
Mr Fox says
Mon Missel leads the field on SR (105) and is sent off at 7/4 with the most accomplished connections in the race — trainer Jamie Snowden at 26% strike rate (831 runners) and jockey Gavin Sheehan at 23% (1,290 runners) represent the strongest handler-rider combination declared. The form string 2-F is not damaging: a fall is an interruption not a performance, and the prior second shows genuine ability in a bumper context. In a maiden bumper where DistFit and GoingFit are universally unknown (first-timers or unproven at trip/going), SR and connections become the primary differentiators, and Mon Missel is clearly superior on both. Turbogeist (SR 109) is the only horse with a higher SR but has drifted 11% from its opening price, which tempers enthusiasm despite the raw number. Each-way alternative: Secret Jet Away. Main danger: Turbogeist — Turbogeist holds the highest SR in the field at 109 with Sean Bowen in the plate (24% strike rate, 2,379 career rides) — if the 11% drift is simply market over-reaction to a bumper newcomer's step up in class rather than a stable signal, raw ability could prevail.
