Karl Des Tourelles
SPECULATIVE Advised 4/1 Est. 28%
Mr Fox says
Karl Des Tourelles (SR:129, 4/1) carries the second-highest SR in the field and has seen a significant 34% market move inward — the strongest steamer in the race — which in a 9-runner beginners' chase at Galway is a meaningful signal from connections who clearly fancy their chance. While his form string (46466-) shows no wins, this is a beginners' chase context where clean jumping and staying power matter as much as raw results, and the money arriving at 4/1 suggests confidence in his jumping having improved. Road To Home holds the highest SR (132) but has drifted 17% from opening, undermining any case, and Chart Topper (SR:120) has a fall and a pulled-up in recent form (3PF03-) making reliability a concern over fences. Captain Ryan Matt (SR:125, 10/3) from the de Bromhead yard is a credible threat but the market has not moved his way, whereas Karl Des Tourelles' strong inward move at a bigger price provides genuine overlay. Each-way alternative: Captain Ryan Matt. Main danger: Captain Ryan Matt — Captain Ryan Matt (SR:125, 10/3) is the de Bromhead yard's #1 runner — backed at a tighter price than stablemate Some Song, with the stronger jockey booking in Darragh O'Keeffe — and his form includes a recent win (Form:56314-) suggesting he is capable of getting his head in front when conditions suit.
