Hartford (SR:96, 1/2) is the clear class leader in this field, posting the highest Saturday Rating by 3 points over Prince Malinas (SR:93) and carrying only 11-13 — the lightest weight in the race alongside Madison Twist. Gordon Elliott's yard operates at an 18% career strike rate and Mr H C Swan rides at 19%, making this one of the strongest connections combinations on the card. The form string of 34- is modest but this is a pro/am bumper-style flat race against very limited opposition, and Elliott rarely sends horses to Wexford without a serious chance. Hartford is an odds-on favourite for good reason: superior SR, elite trainer, proven jockey, and no meaningful threats in the field. Each-way alternative: Prince Malinas. Main danger: Prince Malinas — Prince Malinas holds the second-highest SR at 93, has the most substantive recent form line (58-3) showing a third-place finish last time out, and at 9/2 represents the only other runner with genuine ability — though his 8% market drift is a concern.
