Lady Mariko (SR 69, 10/3) is the market favourite and the strongest-signalled horse in this field. The 18% market support — the sharpest move in the race — is a meaningful indicator in a Class 5 AW handicap where connections rarely steam without a reason. At 9-12 she is top-weight, but her SR of 69 is joint-highest in the field and she carries a 5lb drop in mark (MarkMv:-5), which in a moderate race like this is a genuine advantage. The form string 060046 is unimpressive on the surface, but the DistFit:- and GoingFit:- flags suggest past failures have come in the wrong conditions — today on AW good-ground at Southwell the market is saying those constraints are lifted.
