William Hill Epic Boosts Handicap (GBBPlus Race) ✓ Result
Open4lb lower than when winning over this trip at Sandown (good to firm) last summer, but heavy defeats in his last four outings leave him with plenty to prove.
Consistent for William Haggas and he made all to land Leicester novice (1m2f, good to firm) in July; signed off for that yard with creditable third of 19 at York (10.5f, good; not clear run) off this mark in October; secured for 140,000gns a fortnight later and subsequently gelded; a player on stable debut/reappearance.
Improved once returned to AW and bagged a hat-trick across October and December (1m); on the scoresheet again upped to 9.5f at Wolverhampton (career-best form) in February; form took a slight dip on last two starts, while his earlier turf form isn't comparable so interesting to see how he fares back on grass.
Might not improve for comeback second (8.5f) but this trip is more suitable; each-way shot
Both wins have been at Chelmsford AW (1m2f) last spring; progression has stalled this year but handicap mark has reflected that and he finished third of eight at Lingfield (1m2f, AW) two weeks ago; his turn is near but not sure drop back to 1m will be in his favour.
Close third in this in 2024 and he enhanced a good C&D record when winning last year's edition (good to firm) from this mark; placed on his next four starts and had a soft-ground excuse on final start that term; had wind surgery ahead of a quiet comeback at Newbury three weeks ago but no surprise if this day has been ringed in his calendar.
Hit the ground running last year, winning twice at Nottingham in April, over 8.5f (good) and 1m2f (good to firm); also scored at Epsom (good to soft) in September and once again made a winning return when picking up an AW handicap here (1m2f) 19 days ago; up 5lb and this is tougher but he's progressive and can't be ignored.
Won two amateur riders' races last year but not competitive in either start this term; suspicion he'll come back to life returned to those earlier events when owner David Dunsdon is back in the saddle.
William Hill Oaks Trial Fillies' Stakes (Listed Race) ✓ Result
OpenBy Wootton Bassett out of a 9.5f Listed winner who's sister to Irish Guineas winner Roderic O'Connor; won a maiden at Cork (1m, yielding) last September and probably improved again when front-running third of seven in Group 3 at Navan (1m2f, good to yielding) two weeks ago; top trainer so often gets these 3yo middle-distance fillies to improve.
Wootton Bassett half-sister to a 1m4f Listed winner; won 7f maiden at the Curragh before below-form favourite in a 1m Group 3 later in October; fifth of ten in another 1m Group 3 there on reappearance was her best form and suggested she's a middle-distance filly; those last three runs were in the mud, which is most unlikely here, but another step forward otherwise looks assured; Ryan Moore rides her for the first time.
Sister to 2022 Derby second Hoo Ya Mal; made an eye-catching debut (good to soft) before her novice win at Kempton (1m, AW) later in October; 4-7 for another novice here (1m4f, AW) last month and easily dismissed her only three rivals in slowly run race; faces radically different opposition today and returns to turf but she's promising, for sure.
Sister to winners including Yibir (7f-2m including US Grade 1; RPR 123) and Wild Illusion (1m/1m2f including Group 1, also Oaks second; 116); 10-11 when getting the better of a pretty useful rival at Newmarket (1m, good) last September, preceding another novice win at much shorter odds in good style for six-runner race at Kempton (1m3f, AW) one month ago; lots of potential.
Well beaten in the Lingfield Oaks Trial most recently but is somewhat interesting back down in grade, being a filly who has form figures of 112 when racing below Listed/Group level; ran well in Doncaster handicap (1m2f) the final time.
William Hill Lingfield Derby Trial Stakes (Listed Race) (Colts & Geldings) ✓ Result
OpenIt was a French Group 1 (1m2f, very soft) which saw his progress arrested as a 2yo; his improved form to win a six-runner handicap here (1m2f, AW) on reappearance came by a neck off a mark of just 80 and although the runner-up has won twice since, this race clearly demands big improvement.
Winning siblings include Claymore, a Group 3 winner at 1m2f for this yard; third to Maltese Cross in a 1m Newmarket maiden on sole 2yo start; evens when making all in a Kempton novice (1m, AW) on return and his rallying third of six in Listed race at Epsom (1m2f, good) suggested that this longer trip would suit; some others have better form but he can improve.
Half-brother to smart Flat and hurdle winner Absurde; odds-on winner of maiden at Goodwood (1m2f, soft) and novice at Redcar (1m1f, good to soft) on last two starts as 2yo, in the latter making all and stretching 8l clear; needs a good deal better in this company but he's clearly promising.
Camelot colt; maiden winner at Glorious Goodwood and best form when staying on from off the pace to take fourth in Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud (1m2f, very soft) in October; shaped as if he needed the race when fourth of seven from the back in Listed event at Newmarket (1m1f, good) on return, and this is a different trip, so it's far too early to write him off.
Hot favourite when winning with great authority in five-runner races for a maiden at Kempton (1m3f, AW; led 2f out) in December and novice event at Newmarket (1m2f, good; made all) in April, beating O'Brien and Gosden runners in the latter; Dubawi colt with speed on the dam's side but he's won over 1m3f already and has made a striking start to his career.
Went close on debut at Ascot (1m, soft) and beat notable rivals in a Newmarket maiden (1m, good) later in September; favourite for a valuable novice event at Newbury (1m2f, good) three weeks ago and battled his way to another narrow win, in a blanket finish but there's a good chance he will come on from that run and be suited by this longer trip (very much supported by pedigree); firmly in the mix.
William Hill Chartwell Fillies' Stakes (Group 3) ✓ Result
OpenSeems tactically versatile; hooded when winning Naas Listed event (good) last May and followed up in Leopardstown Group 3 (also 7f, soft) the following month; left Michael O'Callaghan (same owner) after disappointing on heavy ground in October; Ryan Moore booked and she sets the standard on this stable debut/reappearance; plenty to like.
Made a winning handicap debut at Kempton (AW) on her return last May and scored again at Thirsk (good) in September; fine effort despite not getting the breaks when just denied in Ascot Listed event (also 7f, soft) the following month and midfield finish from a poor draw at Longchamp a fortnight later is easily glossed over; commands respect on this return.
Similar type to Shiplake, with still having to prove that best AW form can be transferred back to turf; not exactly solid on 2026 efforts anyway and doesn't look the percentage call in this competitive field.
Tough mare who won two handicaps around this time last year, scoring at Windsor (6f, good to firm) and following up at Goodwood (7f, good) 18 days later; registered plenty of other good efforts last term and was back on the scoresheet with narrow win at Yarmouth (7f, good) 11 days ago; something to find on the figures but she's the type to make her presence felt.
Ex-French filly who didn't run as 2yo; won at Chantilly (1m, soft) on her debut last May; creditable effort despite not staying 1m2f at Listed level next time and she left Andre Fabre for 125,000euros after midfield finish in Saint-Cloud Listed race (1m, heavy) in November; unraced on good or quicker ground but not fully exposed and interesting to see how she goes in the market on this stable debut and first start at 7f.
Progressive mare who scored for the eighth time when beating 18-runner field at Newmarket (7f, good) at last month's Craven meeting; might need some luck in running if the field gravitates to the stands' side but thoroughly deserves this first crack at a Pattern race, with the ceiling of her ability probably yet to be reached.
Progressive novice (6f, AW) and dual handicap winner (7f, good and soft) who signed off for Rae Guest with solid fourth of ten in Listed event on AW here (1m) in November; can likely do better again with just eight starts behind her; stable debut.
William Hill Each Way Extra Handicap ✓ Result
OpenScored on his reappearance at Newbury (7f) last April; string of good efforts followed from August onwards and he posted a career best when fourth of 24 in Newbury's Spring Cup (1m, also good) on his return three weeks ago; stall 1 might not be ideal but otherwise holds strong claims.
Defied penalty in 3yo novice here (good) in 2024; back from a 145-day break and wind surgery when landing Class 2 at Newcastle (also 7f, AW) in December and beaten a neck at Abu Dhabi (1m, good) in March; career-high mark but still considered.
Patchy form for David O'Meara last term but won in June (good to firm; first-time hood) and ran a corker when third of 21 in valuable Ascot handicap (good) in July; back in form when slightly unlucky second at Newcastle (also 7f, AW) in October and sold for 40,000gns later that month; hood (absent when disappointing on final start) missing again; tongue tied for stable debut and warrants a market check.
Runner-up off this mark at Ascot (1m, soft) last September in a competitive handicap; however, well beaten in the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket later that month (pulled hard) and there was no return to form on his reappearance at Lingfield a fortnight ago.
Made all in very valuable auction race as a juvenile but winless since taking Redcar's Two-Year-Old Trophy six weeks later; looked to be rediscovering his level when third on AW in March and it was a solid fifth of 18 behind Royal Velvet (declared for preceding Group 3) at Newmarket (7f, good) last time; if the stands' rail proves the place to be this could be the day to revert to forcing tactics; interesting.
The winner of three of his last six starts (1m, heavy and AW) and ran another solid race when close fourth of ten here (AW) in March; also acts on good ground but this is hotter than the races he usually contests.
Previously effective on turf but form dipped returned to this sphere last time and he still hasn't scored on grass since his 2yo days; admittedly on a workable mark provided he rebounds.
William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap ✓ Result
OpenGelded and well backed when making all on handicap debut at Newcastle in December; runner-up on his next three starts but form dipped at Southwell (also 7f, AW) towards the end of March; having just his second go on turf and could be well drawn to attack.
Useful filly for Eve Johnson Houghton, readily made all in Epsom maiden (7f, good; Assaranca 4l second) in July; transferred to Neil Mulholland (same owners) but it was a low-key start when last of six in conditions race at Kempton (1m, AW) on her comeback in March; needs to put that behind her on this handicap debut.
Maiden and novice winner (6f, good to firm/good) last summer who was a shade disappointing when fifth of ten on handicap debut at Newbury (good to soft) in September; subsequently gelded and his neck second of 13 at Newmarket (also 7f, good) was much more like it on his comeback last month; mixed messages have come out of that race but still commands plenty of respect.
Couldn't make the most of Lingfield's golden highway when weakening over 7f on his stable debut (50-1) a fortnight ago; drop back to 6f probably in his favour but others hold more pressing claims.
Has some potential but needs to settle better if he is to fulfill it
Good start when third on AW here (7f) in November and didn't need to improve to beat 11 others returned to that C&D the following month; interesting to see blinkers go on for this handicap/turf debut but still of clear interest on his reappearance.
Made all at Nottingham in October under Joe Leavy and she stepped up on her seasonal return when third of six at Epsom (also 8.5f, good) 11 days ago; could be dangerous if she grabs the stands' rail.
Usually runs some sort of race but he has not finished with much purpose at Southwell (AW) or Lingfield (turf) on his last two starts, and this is more competitive; needs a revival.
William Hill Price Boosts Every Day Handicap ✓ Result
OpenBack on the up for Adam Kirby this spring, winning at Southwell (6f, AW) and Lingfield (5f, AW) as well as three second-place finishes; 0-16 on turf but effective on fast ground and this intermediate trip could be ideal.
Into the veteran stage but he retains plenty of dash, setting a good pace at Catterick 17 days ago before weakening into third (Tuscan Point second but 8lb worse off today); likely to make a beeline for the stands' rail and more minor money could be on the cards.
Has won five times on turf but is not the force of old; has dropped a career-low mark but this race looks too competitive.
Three wins in the winter, including over C&D, and he has continued to run well off his revised mark; drawn wide on turf last time and usually gives his running round here, so holds each-way claims.
C&D (good to soft) winner in August 2024 who won at Lingfield (good to firm) and Ffos Las (again 5f, good) last year; couldn't repeat his win in that Lingfield event 12 days ago and this looks a warmer race than the ones he regularly contests; still not dismissed.
Won twice on the AW at Chelmsford in January over 7f; outpaced on his return to turf here (5f, good to firm) ten days ago until staying on well for fourth; back to a more suitable distance and not out of this.
Had a BHA mark 26lb higher than today when starting out for this yard last summer but he's struggled to make much of an impact; did finish second at Newcastle in November (well backed) but that form hasn't worked out at all; recent Redcar reappearance is easy to excuse (went off hard and raced in a group of two, finishing sixth and seventh, on the far side); stable looks to hold stronger claims with Birkenhead.
Took advantage of a career-low mark to land his first win on turf over C&D (good to firm) ten days ago; up 4lb but will need luck in running to weave through.
Runner-up in this race last year and he scored off 1lb lower at Chester (5f, good) last July; never a threat on his reappearance at Lingfield (6f) last month but he pulled hard and this drop back in trip is a positive; usually comes from off the pace and has claims if he gets the breaks.
